Redefining Myself (At 55)

Updated: Jan 16

Hi, I’m Sandy! I am 55 years old, mom of two incredible humans, married, and after 35 years in a high-pressure career, I thought I had life mostly figured out. Spoiler: I didn’t.

About two years ago, my body hit the brakes. Hard. Not a gentle nudge, more like it threw up a stop sign and said, “We’re not doing this anymore.”

At first, I kept asking why. Was it menopause? Burnout? Empty nest? Post-COVID fatigue? Midlife crisis? Honestly, probably all of the above. But eventually, I realized the “why” didn’t matter, what mattered was listening. My body was begging me to stop pushing, to slow down, to finally put myself back on the list.

That part sounds lovely, right? Slowing down. Breathing. Finding balance. Except when you’ve been running at 150 miles an hour for decades, slowing down feels impossible. It actually took me months of doing less before my body finally caught up and started healing, physically, mentally, emotionally.

Nine months later, I’m still figuring it out. I’ve learned that healing isn’t about overhauling everything at once; it’s about rebuilding from the inside out. I started studying nutrition on line (because apparently, I can’t not study something new), and I’m now working on reconnecting my physical and mental health.

So this is where the next chapter begins: I’m doing a body recomp (basically building muscle while losing fat) yep, at 55. It sounds a little crazy, I know, but I’ve been inspired by women who started even later in life

. Women who said, “Why not now?” instead of “It’s too late.” And honestly, that’s exactly the energy I’m bringing into this next season.

I’ll be sharing what’s working, what’s not, what I’m learning, and how it actually feels to rebuild your health, body, and mindset in midlife. If you’re like me, strong, caring, capable, but maybe a little burnt out I hope this space feels like a deep breath and a gentle nudge forward.

No filters. No perfection. Just momentum.

Here’s to the next chapter. Redefining what strength means, one small step at a time.

Strength looks different at 55, but its never felt more real.
