I recently came across a perspective that has stayed with me: the two voices that matter most in our lives are our 8-year-old self and our 80-year-old self.
Your 8-year-old self reminds you of the dreams, curiosity, and playfulness you once carried so freely. They encourage you to dream bigger, explore, and embrace joy without hesitation.
Your 80-year-old self reminds you to prioritize what really matters, so that when you look back, you do so with fulfillment instead of regret. They encourage you to live wisely today and to make choices you’ll be proud of in the long run.
When we listen to both, we find a balance—between dreaming forward and grounding ourselves in the wisdom of the present.
Reflection question: What would your 8-year-old and 80-year-old selves say to you today?
